When I first started hanging with the missional crowd, I attended Neil Cole’s Organic Church Conference in Long Beach, CA in January of 2007. My world changed as I met Neil and then Alan and Deb Hirsch and, on the final morning, listened to Felicity Dale.

Her talk about healing the hemiplegia in the church was stunning and continues to resonate deep inside of me. And so it is with a great deal of excitement that Felicity has chosen to contribute a chapter to Wikiklesia, Volume Two.

Don’t miss it over in the Forum — and don’t forget to share your comments or ask Felicity a question!

from Cynthia

Special thanks to all who have taken the time to submit proposals and a few more are trickling in. The hive mind of the spirit is definitely at work and smiley faces should be arriving to the group shortly.

Since entering the virtual domain, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to connect with new friends from all over the world – what my husband endearingly refers to as the virtual ecclesia. It continues to amaze me that one can embark on journeys with people one has never met and accomplish tasks globally without leaving ones home or office – lately it has been very surreal to watch projects for good unfold, bridging incredible gaps of distance and disparity and which take shape offline through online connections. I’m hooked. And committed.

With all the online connections, I’ve had relatively few opportunities to actually meet online friends offline, Friday being one such occasion as John and I had the opportunity to meet up with Missio Dei’s Jonathan Brink. Jonathan has an amazing heart for advocacy and reconciliation as do other contributing authors. The on and off line dialog inspired me to believe that something larger and different than expected may occur for this project. I realized (referring to bridging gaps) that with God, all things are possible. The flight pattern for me has shifted somewhat No matter which direction I fly it will be toward the heart and freedom of God, whose mission and grand design is to restore all things through Christ - this is my hope for others.

Announcement / Invitation

The Wikiklesia Project: Volume Two
Taking Flight: Reclaiming the Female Half of God’s Image. A Journey of Freedom and Reconciliation

The award winning Wikiklesia Project: Volume One broke new ground as a crowd sourced, collaborative ecclesial publishing model. Wiki One presented a “far reaching exploration of spiritual journey contextualized within a culture of increasingly immersive technology.” Wiki Two enlarges the virtual anthology by exploring the rapidly changing perception of women in faith leadership and how their participation will shape the future church.

We are inviting you, both men and women, both published and non-published authors and bloggers, to share your perspective and experiences. Send us a 3-5 paragraph proposal by May 15, 2009. We will select fifty of the most visionary and thought-provoking articles for a year-long interactive publication at the Missional Tribe community. Most of these articles will be selected for the final hard copy version of the book. Sister publications with traditional publishers are also on the radar. Finished chapters should be maximum 3000 words and due by July 31, 2009. Images, diagrams, photos, poetry, and resources are welcomed. A number of guest authors have already been confirmed and all proceeds from the project will go to Emancipation Network.

The time for disenfranchisement and debating women’s “place” has passed. Wikiklesia: Volume Two is dedicated to affirming and learning about women who, as passionate contributors, use their gifts as well as serve alongside their brothers in God’s Kingdom—reclaiming a unified image for the Body of Christ.

The Editors are looking for stories from thinkers and doers who have dared to imagine opportunities for women’s voices both within and beyond the traditional framework of religious institutions and settings. What wild adventures and stories of those “taking flight” are out there? How will further progress be made? How can future generations of women be inspired to realize their potential? We need your stories – the courageous visionaries who are re-examining and re-imagining the roles of women of faith – to present a fresh, comprehensive view that will inspire women (and men!) to look expectantly towards a positively transformed 21st century ecclesia.

For more information visit The Wikiklesia Project
The endeavor was considered a futuristic and “far reaching exploration of spiritual journey contextualized within a culture of increasingly immersive technology”.

In the same vein, Volume Two to will continue to break new ground as a collective conversation about the rapidly changing perception of women in faith leadership and how their participation will shape the future church.

We are inviting published and non-published authors and bloggers (that’s YOU) to share their perspective and experiences. We will select 50 of the most visionary and thought-provoking articles for a year-long interactive publication right here at Missional Tribe.
